The department store, situated at the Tauentzien in immediate vicinity to KdW and Gedächtniskirche (Memorial Church), refers to a Berlin tradition of department store buildings. Up to the 4th floor a closed and spherically curved stone facade surrounds a spacious atrium, covered with a glass dome. This design concept was contradictory to the building dogma of that time and therefore was not realized.
